The B4234 at Kerne Lodge is closed today. There was a landslide there recently and half the road was closed last week but today it has been completely closed due to the risk of rockfall. There is access for residents living within the road closure from the Walford end only.
It has been reported today ( 10th March ) by Balfour Beatty that road users have moved cones and removed diversion signs and that a Project Manager was verbally abused. They have asked me to point out that moving such signs and cones is unlawful and any vehicle damaged in the course of going through the closed road may not be insured.
Resurfacing of the road from Walford Church to the Leys Hill junction has been completed – you will have seen that the centre white line has not been replaced on some parts. This is a traffic calming measure that has been used elsewhere in the county. Walford Parish Council did raise concerns over this and it has been agreed by Herefordshire Council that, if local opinion is against this, then the centre line will be replaced at no cost to the parish.
Parish council are having further traffic calming measures designed by Balfour Beatty to help residents who exit Leys Hill onto the B4234, and are in the process of applying for a speed limit of 30mph for this section of the road.
